Postern gate

Postern gate was built by British in 1853. During British Period Lahore fort served as Cantonment of British Army. They made some changes in fort buildings to facilitate the purpose like construction of Barood Khana, laid down a road from Shah Burj gate and within Mussaman Burj area, to ease the access to other buildings of fort and construction of Postern gate outside shah Burj gate. The Purpose to build this gate was to provide residence to the guards of Lahore fort and to enhance the defence of fort to maximum level.
